What Do We Cover?

When you think of Bordeaux wines, you might think of the fairy-tale chateaux, with prices that put the wines produced here way out of reach for most of us, and, for a lot of the top stuff, you would be right. However, that is not a fair representation of the area as a whole, with many fabulous wines accessible to both novice and enthusiast, at much more attainable prices. In this class we concentrate on the reds, and will look at Saint Estèphe, Pauillac, Saint-Juilen, Margaux, Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, and Fronsac. We discuss the notion of terroir and what it means in relation to the differences found within these appellations. This is an intense class, that assumes a basic level of knowledge with regard to the main grape varieties discussed - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot - and the region as a whole. If you would prefer a more introductory level, please let me know, and I will create one for you. Whats Included? - Your own personal wine presenter. - Up to two hours personal tasting at the location of your choosing, up to an hours drive from Seattle. - Tasting notes, maps, and other materials to enhance your experience.
